Are you committed to your contact page?

There are three things I really hate about contact pages…

  • the lack of a contact page
  • no expectation of how long it will take for an answer
  • all that is displayed in an email address

There is no excuse for the lack of a contact page, I don’t care if you are on Twitter or Facebook.

Give the visitor some indication of how long they have to wait for a response. I normally say that I will respond with in 48 hours. It gives me a deadline and I know that I have failed my reader/visitor if I don’t make it.

I think readers/visitors should know how long they have to wait. I give 48 hours, on the outside they have waited a day or so, expectation met. If I can back to them quicker than that, say around 4 or 5 hours, then expectation exceed – reader/visitor feels happy he/she got a quick response.

And for those who just display an email address with no attempt at a form, please don’t be surprised at the amount of viagra emails, if not now then they will be with you very soon..

I hate contact pages that have forms but no other contact info. What if I have something to say that doesn’t match the form?!.

Thanks for the timeline suggestions. Something I need to do.

    Cheers,

    Sam
