For sale signs – how Estate Agents can go one better

estate agent for sale sign

There is so much more an estate agent can do with their ‘for sale’ signs. Standard signs have not change much over the years, well there are email and website addresses now but that’s about it. Not very exciting and to be honest, not very helpful to people who see them.

There are a few simple things you can do to improve them. Here are three suggestions…

1. Add a QR/Flash Code

More and more mobile phones have the ability to read these 3 dimensional bar codes. They can contain web address, email address and more. If someone see’s a property they like the look of, they can instantly pull the website page all about it. They can do it while standing outside and not have to make a note and return home to their computer.

2. Use a short code

If you are a Twitter user then you will of seen short codes. They are really small web addresses than can point to a web page. It allows long addresses to be shortened to just a few characters. An Estate Agent can use these codes to point to their website page about a property.

There is one extra benefit of this, shortening services like Bitly can provide tracking statistics. You will be able to see just how these codes are working.

3. QR/Flash codes with short addresses

Generate a flash code based on a shortened web address. You can then track using statistics on how the sign is performing in general.

How to put it in to practice

You are unlikely to want to buy a whole load of new signs just to add on these new features. Why not create a sheet that you laminate and then pin on to the sales sign?

As a suggestion…

It is not to scale of an A4 sheet but I am sure you get the idea. Create your own, print it and then laminate it. Simple to do and you can easily reach out to more potential customers.

For a real fancy ‘for sale’ sign, see the ones made by Move Street, they also include Near Field Communication (NFC), the latest feature for mobile phones.

One last thing about using QR and Flash codes, why not put them on the info sheets in the window of your office? When you are closed or out and about on a call, passers by can still have easy access to details with their mobiles.
